PNR EST call for research proposals on "Environmental and Occupational Health"

From 14/10/2024 to 10/12/2024

On 14 October 2024, ANSES launched its 2025 call for research proposals on the topic "Environmental and Occupational Health".

Issued as part of the National Research Programme for Environmental and Occupational Health (PNR EST), the aim of this call is to support public policy-making. It takes into account the research priorities of the national environmental health, occupational health and cancer plans.

The PNR EST aims to encourage scientific communities to produce data of use in the different phases of health risk assessment, thereby bringing research and scientific expert appraisal closer together. The 2025 call for proposals covers the assessment and analysis of environmental risks to human health, in the general and worker populations. It will also support projects on risks to ecosystems and quality of environmental media. It is focused on research questions raised by ANSES, the ministries and State agencies addressing these topics.

This call for proposals is being financed by ANSES from budgets delegated by the Ministries in charge of the environment, labour, health and agriculture, together with two co-funding partners: ADEME and ITMO Cancer from the Aviesan alliance.

For this 2025 edition of the PNR EST, additional funding will be allocated by the Ministry in charge of the environment to finance research projects on endocrine disruptors.

The selection process will be divided into two stages:

  • An initial selection on the basis of letters of intent
  • A second round of selection based on complete applications

Two committees are involved. The scientific committee is made up of researchers, and is responsible for evaluating and selecting projects on scientific grounds. The steering committee, made up of representatives of the funding bodies, relevant ministries and other stakeholders, draws up the list of projects to be funded from among those shortlisted by the scientific committee.

The call for proposals and the research questions

The scope and conditions are described in the text of the call for research proposals. It is accompanied by a list of research questions that have been identified as priority areas for potential users of this research. These questions are the topics that this call aims to document.

Certain questions are being given precedence this year as they are of key importance for the steering committee or reflect priorities of the co-funding partners. They are highlighted in red.
